Pantry Recipes - use what you've got!
Limiting your trips to the grocery store may seem like it’ll limit the meals that you’re able to make, but that does not have to be the case! In the Blue Zones Meal Planner, there are plenty of recipes that will help you pull from your pantry and freezer -- maybe even finally using up some items that have been sitting there for a long time. (Multiple opened, partially used bags of frozen peas, anyone? Just us?)
If you haven’t already, try our search engine - you can type in any combination of ingredients that you may have on hand, and we’ll show you recipes that use all those ingredients. And if you ever have questions about substitutions for items that you don’t have, just reach out to our Food Coaches and we’d be happy to suggest an alternative.
Here are some suggestions that we'd be willing to bet you already have some ingredients for in your pantry...
Overnight Oats - Cinnamon Raisin: uses raisins and oats, and you can swap out any kind of nut or dried fruit!
Three-Bean Vegetable Chili: use any mix of beans you have on hand and is a great way to use up various frozen veggies!
Pasta Puttanesca: you can use any mix of beans you have on hand and is a great way to enjoy a fun twist on pasta and sauce - feel free to switch up the nuts too!
This is also a great time to get creative in the kitchen! Take stock of what you have in the depths of your pantry and freezer, and use up any items that are nearing expiration, in whatever way you can. Have you created some hodge-podge masterpiece of your own? Let us know, and maybe we’ll add it into the Meal Planner!
